Head of S-5

Hi everyone I am Elisha Novoa I am the battalion S-5. My job is public service. I make announcements to make sure that you get the information and run all the social media accounts. I have been to NVMI for 6 years now. Over that course of time, I have learned from each individual how to become a better person and leader. My first leadership position that I was given at NVMI was a squad leader in my six grade year. As a squad leader, I learned how to take charge and lead my squad during formation, to keep my cadets in check throughout the day, and to take care of someone other than myself. But a leader is more than just holding a position, a leader is someone who can see how things can be improved and who motivates people to be the best vision of themselves. Leaders work toward making their vision a reality while putting people first. Just being able to motivate people isn’t enough, leaders need to be empathetic and connect with people to be successful and that is something NVMI has created in many individuals. Following each other can inspire others to be better people and leaders. But something that inspires empowering women. Being a woman sometimes isn’t easy, but the most inspiring thing is to see a woman break that stigma of what a woman should be doing. A good example of a person who empowers and inspires me and other women are AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district. Other congressmen and people always bring her down. But no matter what those men say she always stands up high as a person of color and women and defeats her bullies. She is a great leader that empowers others to be there best. People like her inspire me to never let anyone bring me down because of my race, gender, or appearance.
